As an organisation dedicated to the health and wellbeing of underserved people globally, we are deeply concerned about the immediate and long-term effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. At the same time, we are heartened and inspired by the dedicated response of individuals, communities, organisations, and governments alike.

Supporting Response Efforts

Scope is contributing to the Covid-19 response through a number of initiatives. We are assisting the Inter-Agency Working Group on Reproductive Health in Crises (IAWG) in designing a mechanism for frontline health care workers to seek technical advice, share and learn from intervention adaptations, innovate to meet new needs, and connect for community support.

In our Core Nigeria project, we are working with state partners in maintaining essential services throughout the different phases of the crisis. We are assisting our Kenyan youth movement in using futures thinking to advocate for their sexual and reproductive health needs during and post pandemic. Together with our network of women’s rights activists, we are designing new approaches for tackling the gender-differential impacts of Covid-19 and ensuring women’s programmatic and policy participation during and after this crisis.

Using Our Expertise to Help

Additional ways in which Scope is well-positioned to contribute to response efforts include:

  • Community and facility-based rapid research using digital and mobile-enabled ethnographic and data capture methods.
  • Virtual Design Clinics – facilitating lean design sprints and innovation labs to co-design Covid-19 interventions and new delivery models for essential services.
  • Adapting Covid-19 guidelines and response measures to local contexts and needs through human-centered design.
  • Leveraging futures thinking and scenario planning to build community-led visions for post-pandemic recovery pathways.
  • Supporting advocacy and fundraising efforts through global, regional, and national creative social media communication campaigns.
  • Developing behaviour change initiatives, translating technical guidance into localised, relatable, and actionable information.
  • Creatively packaging and visualising data for impactful, effective communication.

If there is anything at all that we can do to contribute to collective pandemic response efforts, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Sharing Our Gratitude

We also extend our deepest thank you to the entire health community, particularly hospital workers and frontline health care providers, who are sacrificing so much to save so many.
