Climate-smart solutions to protect health in a changing climate
UBS Optimus Foundation
2025

Scope Impact is proud to announce the launch of its Climate Resilience Design Lab, a three-month initiative focused on safeguarding healthcare facilities against the increasing challenges posed by climate change. With a focus on innovation and resilience, the project has been designed to deliver climate-smart solutions that bolster healthcare systems, protect communities, and equip frontline health workers to address the challenges of a changing climate.

The Design Lab will bring together interdisciplinary experts to co-develop innovative architectural and infrastructure solutions for two critical facility types in India: primary healthcare facilities and secondary hospitals. The goal is to create a repository of retrofittable, low- or no-cost solutions designed to mitigate the effects of extreme heat and flooding—two of the most pressing climate risks impacting healthcare delivery worldwide.

The Climate Resilience Design Lab builds on Scope Impact’s goal to address the critical challenges where health and climate intersect. By prioritizing practical, scalable solutions that are both affordable and adaptable, this initiative aims to empower healthcare facilities to withstand climate pressures while advancing equitable access to essential care worldwide.
