As part of USAID’s Frontier Health Markets (FHM) Engage project focused on improving health markets and equal access to and uptake of high-quality health products and services, Scope Impact has been investigating ways to increase private sector participation in the key health markets in family planning (FP).

In recent months, we have explored and synthesized research on the financing needs for FP enterprises, documented existing marketplace solutions, and interviewed 16 entrepreneurs working in the FP space and 6 marketplace actors.

Through our research with private sector actors, including entrepreneurs and funders, we have delved into and sought evidence on how entrepreneurs incorporate FP into their offering, and what it is needed to build a sustainable enterprise in this space. Our findings will provide evidence for consideration of a range of support options to meet the unique needs of entrepreneurs in mixed
health systems, including unique financing models, support, mentorship, and training.

Stay tuned for the upcoming insights report, as well as more on how to support the development of private sector FP market solutions!
