In implementing our ongoing water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) project in Nagaland, India, Scope Impact is currently working with partners in deploying digital social behaviour change and communications (SBCC) interventions in 100 facilities in 12 districts. Among the districts covered in the project are Dimapur, Kohima, Kiphire, Phek and Tuensang and Wokha. The project is part of USAID’s health system strengthening project NISHTHA, implemented by Jhpiego in collaboration with Unilever.

Guided by local insights, Scope Impact has developed digital and mobile based WASH content for behavior change, focused on priority WASH areas in Nagaland. These include menstrual health and hygiene, infection prevention control, safe water practices, toilet usage, hand hygiene, as well as prevention of diarrhea and malaria.

A key component of the project is the support provided to community health officers (CHOs) stationed at Health and Wellness Centers. These CHOs play a crucial role in improving hygiene practices within their communities. By offering guidance on implementing essential WASH practices and infection control precautions, the SBCC interventions enhance the capacity of health workers to integrate WASH elements into their daily practices and interactions with the communities they serve.

Scope Impact is also implementing a rigorous monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework to measure the impact of their training and SBCC interventions Nagaland.
