Scope Impact welcomes Dr. Sudharsanam Manni Balasubramaniam to the team!

Dr. Sudharsanam Manni Balasubramaniam (Dr. Sud), as Chief Impact and Applied AI Officer at Scope Impact, leads the organisation’s impact strategy, applied AI integration, and evidence generation across its climate and health portfolio, while spearheading strategic partnerships and advancing Scope’s mission to build climate-resilient and equitable health systems globally. As part of the senior leadership team, he plays a central role in ensuring that Scope’s programmes are grounded in rigorous evidence, responsible data use, and scalable applied AI, spanning Halla Health, CHIP, and CHART.
Dr. Sud brings over 23 years of experience in global public health, with deep expertise in climate-health, reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, communicable and non-communicable diseases, and health systems strengthening. He has led programme implementation, digital health, monitoring, evaluation and adaptive learning across South and Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and beyond. At Scope Impact, he leads the science team, driving evidence generation, monitoring, evaluation and learning, data governance, and the applied AI agenda. Previously he has held senior leadership roles at Gavi, Jhpiego, and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and served as Global Health Director at Scope Impact from 2021 to 2024, where he led regional and national efforts delivering large-scale, high-impact initiatives across comprehensive primary healthcare, health systems strengthening, and climate-responsive health innovation.
